Profile Ruth Greenstein has worked in the book publishing industry since 1989. A founding member of WiP, she has been a staff editor at Harcourt, Ecco, and the publishing division of GoodTimes Entertainment.

She has enjoyed working with a wide range of writers, including bestselling and award-winning authors Anita Shreve, Alice Walker, John Ashbery, Erica Jong, and Dennis Lehane. Her editorial credits include Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod by Gary Paulsen (a national bestseller),

A Journey with Elsa Cloud by Leila Hadley (a New York Times Notable Book), The Deposition of Father McGreevy by Brian O’Doherty (a Booker Prize finalist), and recently, Return of the Condor: The Race to Save Our Largest Bird from Extinction by John Moir, and My Father’s House: A Childhood in Wartime Bavaria by Beatrix Ost.

She provides manuscript evaluation, proposal development, substantive editing, cowriting and ghostwriting, synopsis writing, project management, career guidance, and assistance in placing projects with agents and publishers. Equally skilled at working with first-timers and published authors, she assists clients in developing their ideas, shaping their materials, refining their voices, polishing their presentations, and navigating the publishing scene.
